Friuli Venezia Giulia‘s morphology is highly variable: it has mountains (Alpi Carniche), plains (Pianura Padana) and coastal areas (on the Adriatic Sea and the Gulf of Trieste). Friuli has plenty of history, traditions and cultural heritage. Its mountains, great for skiing in the winter and for summer mountain sports (its tourist resources are fully equipped) are worth a visit. Popular choices among ski fans are Tarvisio and Sella Nevea in the Julian Alps and Piancavallo and Forni di Sopra in the eastern Dolomites. The beaches of Friuli are also very attractive and one of the most popular destinations is Lignano Sabbiadoro. The cities of Trieste and the beautiful Aquileia are certainly worth visiting.
Famous food products from Friuli include San Daniele ham and Montasio cheese.
