Molise

Molise is in the centre-south of Italy and its territory lies between the Apennines and the Adriatic coast. It is the second smallest region in Italy after Valle d‘Aosta.
The coast of Molise is 38 kilometres long and tourism in this area is concentrated in the tourist bathing resorts of Termoli and Campomanno. Popular destinations for winter tourism are the skiing resorts of Capracotta and Campitello Matese. Inland, Molise is a very beautiful and, other than the attractive scenery, there are also three important archaeological sites: Altilia, Pietrabbondante and Larino. One of Italy’s biggest WWF parks, the Guardiaregia-Campochiaro Park (known as ‘oasis’), is in Molise.
Famous castles in Molise include Monforte Campobasso Castle, dating back to the middle of the XVI century, Termoli Castle, built some time between the XIII and XV century, and Castle Pandone, in Bojano, dating back to the IX or X century.
